A Process to Generate Editorial Style Guides Through Claude Code

What it is

A process to extract a brand's editorial voice from existing content & turning it into an AI-powered quality control system for new drafts. Or write simply: A way to generate editorial style guides.

The problem it solves

I've worked with a few brands who don't have a formal style guide. There's a working understanding of what content quality means, but they don't have it written down, which might affect the quality of a freelancer's first draft.

How it works

I use Claude Code to crawl a brand's website (blog, product/service pages, - basically everything Google sees through the robot.txt search).

The AI reads their content, extracts voice patterns, sentence structures, preferred terminology, & editorial tendencies, then produces a markdown style guide from what it finds.

That style guide becomes the core instructions I use in a Claude or ChatGPT Project. I use the project + instructions to review my draft before I send it to my client, & it gives me specific, helpful feedback so I can improve my draft with my discretion & recommendation from AI.

What this means for you

If you're a brand who has never had a style guide or one that has a style guide your writers don't really follow, you can use this process to speed up their editing stage.
