Strategic Content That Delivers Results

I'm not just a writer; I'm a strategist. Here's what my approach looks like:

My approach begins with topical research (generic keywords for search intent). I use the results page or Answer the Public to find these. I then analyze the keywords on Semrush to identify high-intent keywords that align with your product and target audience.

My research & writing process in bullet points:

  • I paste my keyword on Semrush keyword gap analysis to find competing pages for the keyword.

I read these to learn the search intent they served, the gaps in the content (whether in outline, structure, or context), and how I can improve on what they did to rank. Semrush also suggests helpful LSI keywords to optimize the page.

  • If there are gaps in client expectations & my research (on content idea or approach), I communicate it upfront so we can be on the same page. If there isn’t, I continue.

  • I read low-performing pages, too. It’s where the gems are sometimes, and I take notes to improve my arguments or topical knowledge.

  • I use LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, and podcasts to find expert insights when I have no SME to speak to or a tight deadline. I paste a keyword (it doesn’t have to be my primary keyword) into a social platform's search bar to find context for my topic, and I give credit to the expert when I copy-paste their words.

  • For podcasts, I use Listennotes to find pods related to my topic.

💡
By the way, I write on familiar topics and often refer to my social media and Chrome bookmarks while writing. This makes my writings clearer as I consume more than I create.
  • I use my notes and existing research to build an outline.

  • If I need to feature product use cases, I would use the product and jot down features relevant to the article I am writing. I’ll also save some screenshots.

  • I keep my 20+ other tabs open so I can write and double-check if I misinterpreted a statement, idea, or framework.

  • I dump my draft on Grammarly, fix the little Grammar errors, and paste it back to GDocs. I don' write & edit to properly articulate my thoughts, so you can imagine the grammatical blunders in a first draft.

  • Here’s where the real work begins.

  • I start tearing my piece down. I fix incoherent sentences and ideas, fact-check, add new stats, reshuffle ideas, add internal and external links, and add screenshots and images to give more context—you get it…

  • Then, I edit again manually.

  • I add alt texts to the images.

  • And edit again. And again.

  • Of course, I give it time to breathe so I can spot the gaps in my content.

I go beyond basic keyword stuffing and other black hat SEO tactics, which I ghostwrote about. I write content that genuinely addresses your audience's pain points and stirs interest in your product.

My subscription to leading newsletters from Emma Straton, SparkToro, Wes Kao, Animalz, Grow and Convert, Katelyn Bourgoin, Ben Goodey, and 20+ others helps me stay informed as a content marketer.

I know what’s up in the industry, and I learn how to write better & optimize my processes every time.

Crafting Content That Speaks to Your Ideal Customer

Content should be written for real people, not fictional customer profiles.

That's why I follow the "Pay Scale" approach.

This approach helps me write content that matches the specific knowledge level and pain points of your target audience.

This ensures it resonates with them, showsframeworks for solving problems, and builds trust and credibility in your brand.

Your audience is at the heart of everything I do.

Proven Results: Driving Organic Traffic Growth

I've achieved significant results for my clients. One that I watched closely is this 233% increase in organic traffic within six months. My contract started in June 2023, and we saw interesting growth till December.

Content publishing stalled between January and March/April, so there’s a dip in traffic.

For this result, I conducted keyword research (minus the brief) and prioritized long-tail keywords in headings, even for top-of-the-funnel topics, to improve visibility and attract qualified leads.
